Extending SchemeServe with Addons and Integrations

Even a really good insurance platform is only part of the story. It no good collecting huge amounts of information if you keep it all to yourself. Soon or later, you’ll want to communicate with the outside world, or take advantage of large data blocks to make your schemes come to life. There’s things any customer would expect these days, such as getting their address from a postcode. Perhaps regulatory rules, like making sure you’re not selling to anyone on the Home Office Sanctions list. Maybe accepting credit and debit cards online would make a difference to you.

SchemeServe has all of these, and a lot more. The list of integrations changes all the time, so here’s just a flavour.

Talk to customers, Agents and Insurers through eMail automation and SMS text messages

Manually or automatically email quotations, renewal invites, schedules and any other document you care to, straight from inside SchemeServe. Customised documents can be completely automated using our powerful rule builder to decide when to send each customer or agent which document depending on the policy status. You can send your own SMS text messages reminding a customer to renew, or simply let them know a new document is available for them to look at. You might choose to have an SMS message sent to yourself when a referral decision is needed. All messages and documents are completely customisable directly in SchemeServe. Customers can have a login to their own portal to see all of their documents in one place.

Find addresses from a postcode

Filling in an address gets tedious very quickly. These days anyone filling in an online form will expect to have their address details populated from a postcode. Not only is it easier and quicker, it reduces the number of mistakes, especially if your scheme will need lots of addresses, such as a Landlords policy. SchemeServe can find addresses from UK postcodes and US zipcodes right there in the question form.

Get vehicle data from DVLA

If your scheme is vehicle related, you’ll want to be able to rate on the insurance group, engine size, number of seats and perhaps even the colour. Asking your customer to tell you this is very error prone. With our DVLA integration, all this and more is available to you when you enter the vehicle registration number. Maybe they don’t know the registration number isn’t known yet though. You can still get the vehicle insurance group from our database by selecting make, model and engine size.

Flood, Subsidence, Arson and Burglary risk information

Sometimes its good to know about the area a policy is sold in. SchemeServe can get an indication of risk of flooding, how likely the ground is going to sink as well as pointing out how prevalent arson and theft is. You can use these scores directly in SchemeServe to help you determine if its a risk you want to provide cover for.

Interrogate the Home Office database for Sanctions

The FCA requires that you do your best to make sure you are not selling policies to people undertaking dubious activities. SchemeServe checks with the Home Office database of people and organisations that have sanctions applied to them, recording that you have been diligent in performing the check, as well as pointing out inquiries that might need further investigation.

Take credit and debit cards online with SagePay and PayPal

Often, especially when selling online, the customer will want to pay for the policy there and then. SchemeServes integration with SagePay means that you can accept all the popular credit and debit cards. SchemeServe can also accept payment by PayPal. You can change which payments are accepted for which schemes any time you like.

Accept payments using Direct Debits in the UK or Europe

Customers are now comfortable with paying for insurance by Direct Debit. SchemeServe talk to BACS to setup and process payment for all your Direct Debit customers. SchemeServe is able to process payments in Euros using SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area)

Track customer activity and sales patterns with Google Analytics

Just putting your application form online is unlikely to get you more sales. You need to know where customers stumble filling in those forms, and why they leave part way through. SchemeServe integrates with Google Analytics and the newer Google Tag Manager, to allow you to analyse your customer visits in lots of detail.

“Instead of ‘webifying’ 30-year old insurance mainframes, SchemeServe seem to have produced something that no one else has thought of, and the solution is so elegant and simple I keep asking myself why no one else thought it. SchemeServe is the only insurance software product I’ve seen that’s based on the way people interact with people”

The SchemeServe API

The SchemeServe API allows developers to quickly and simply integrate any existing software with SchemeServe and to easily build components and widgets to complement your own solutions or to re-sell. The API is implemented as an XML webservice over HTTP. Integrate using your programming language of choice, such as .NET, PHP, Ruby or Java. Authentication is managed via SchemeServe user accounts, and calls to our webservice will return data or allow writing of data that the given user account would normally have access to.

For more information see our API documentation.
